YDF + AyA Kitchens at IIDEX 2010 – photos & profile

We partnered with AyA Kitchens and Bath on the Design of their booth at IIDEX 2o10.  Our design hovers between the streamlined discipline of a sleek utilitarian kitchen and the more relaxed sociable backdrop of a family gathering space.  A clean and contemporary take on the easy, rustic kitchen.  The mood is sociable, the materials practical and the style casual but with enough sophistication for kitchen-table entertaining.

Paying homage to the classic European style kitchen, at first glance one might wonder where the kitchen begins and adjacent rooms end.  Just as the layout is transitional, so too is th design style, this decidedly modern kitchen mingles with classic architectural details and warm reclaimed furnishings.

Design Features:

Two black hutches flank the back elevation.  Designed to mimic a traditional pantry housed between kitchen and dining rooms.  These offer a practical design for storage cutlery and dishware as it would have been traditionally.

An open full-height bookcase offers casual and practical storage.  Having the daily dishware, vessels of drygoods, preserves and the days essentials like last evenings bottle of red wine all open and adjacent both the prep area and the dining table.  This modern pitch black painted unit pays homage to the classic country kitchen open shelves.

Contemporary functions are concealed in the base cabinets with paneled Fisher & Paykel Cool Drawers and Fisher & Paykel’s new 36″ single dish drawer.  Without the function being apparent we’re left to enjoy the space without the pressure to perform.

Catering to the chef, a 48″ DCS Prostyle range is featured with Stainless backguard and matching Prostyle Hood. Pots and pans are at the ready on open adjacent shelves, topped with butcher black.  The sink strategic placed beside the prep area keeps the process efficient.

  1. I’m really loving the theme/design of your website. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility problems? A couple of my blog visitors have complained about my website not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Safari. Do you have any recommendations to help fix this issue?
