Come on up. Come Up To My Room

Well, not MY room, that’s just crazy talk.  Here’s a room you can come on up to….

It’s time again for the Gladstone Hotel’s Come Up To My Room.

Come Up To My Room is an alternative design show focusing on the diverse practices that work outside the norms of traditional design: multidisciplinary, independent, emerging and self-taught, all within the backdrop of the historic 119 year old hotel.

The show is always a fantastic, surprising and inspiring example of young (not excluding old) design talent.

The Curators select the artists, who in turn select their exhibit space from the 12 available hotel rooms.  The curators do not see the room again until the unveiling.  This as they call it “rock and roll” approach proves a great way to push the artists to really express their individual style.

Rooms end up being a real cross-over between art and design.  Some true interior spaces, livable and lovely.  Others, installations of sorts –  Inspiring, envelope-pushing….not so livable.

This event takes over the entire second floor of the Gladstone Hotel
1214 Queen Street West Toronto ON.

Come Up To My Room runs Friday February 22 to Sunday February 24, 2008
